Port Huron native Carol Nickles brings hometown roots to latest novel

PORT HURON, MI — For author Carol Nickles, Port Huron has always been more than a hometown, it’s the anchor point for her stories and her sense of self.

Nickles, who grew up along the shores of Lake Huron, said the city remains her creative compass even after living in other places.

“From wherever I have lived or traveled, Port Huron is the center of the compass,” she said.
