Rodman Public Library at 215 E. Broadway St. in Alliance is celebrating 125 years of public library service. The first library opened in 1900.

ALLIANCE ‒ Rodman Public Library is celebrating a major milestone in local history.

For 125 years, the library in the Carnation City has been more than a place to find books. It has been a refuge, a classroom and a gathering place for generations.

It has evolved and adapted along with technology, has changed its name and location, and has kept literacy at the forefront with every step.

"I think that one of the things I've seen over my 30 years is that libraries try really hard to meet the community wherever they are," said Eric Taggart, director and fiscal officer at Rodman Public Library.
