For a third time, the question of how much future Green Bay mayors should be paid was taken up by the Personnel Committee on Sept. 23.
For the first time, the committee did not come out with a unified answer, losing the support of council member Jennifer Grant, who said the newly proposed $140,000 ― itself a compromise from a prior recommendation of $165,000 ― would present too high a burden on the budget and taxpayers of the community of 105,000 residents.
"I do think, at the end of the day, all of us as elected officials are public servants," Grant reasoned.
She preferred sticking to what had been initially recommended in June by the city's Human Resources department and that had been unanimously supported by her committee colleagues: That the next mayor would start off their term
