VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- Four people were displaced and a dog has died after a fire on South Rosemont Road Wednesday morning.

According to officials, just after 3 a.m., crews with the Virginia Beach Fire Department were dispatched to the 500 block of South Rosemont Road for reports of a residential structure fire.

Upon arrival to the scene, crews found heavy smoke coming from a one-story house.

The fire was officially marked out by 3:24 a.m. and the origin of the fire was determined to have been the kitchen.

Two adults and two children were displaced as a result of the fire, all of which were treated for smoke inhalation. One dog was found dead inside the home.
