NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio (WOIO) - Residents in a total of 64 apartments were displaced after Sunday’s fire at a high-rise apartment building.

North Olmsted Fire Chief Edward Schepp said out of the 64, 24 units have been re-occupied and the remining 40 need restoration.

Some of those units will need more repairs than others, said Chief Schepp.

Flames broke out on the fifth floor of the Westbury Apartments on Brookpark Road around 1:45 p.m. Sunday.

Multiple people were evaluated by medics on-the-scene and three people, including a police officer, were transported to a local hospital with what officials said are non-life-threatening injuries.

Several pets also died in the blaze.

Chief Schepp said the cause and origin of the fire remain undetermined.
