One Pittsburgh firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was treated for heat-related symptoms early Wednesday while fighting a blaze at a residence in Squirrel Hill, officials said.

City firefighters responded just before 3 a.m. to a fire in the 2900 block of Beechwood Boulevard, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety. About a half-hour later, it grew to a two-alarm fire. The fire was deemed under control at approximately 3:45 a.m.

The firefighter who suffered heat exhaustion was transported in stable condition to the hospital.

The other firefighter who felt heat-related symptoms was treated at the scene and returned to service, officials said. No injuries to residents were reported.

The fire was caused by a dehumidifier that overheated in the residence’s basement, Public Safety said.
