In the hours before Oklahoma State University made its announcement, readers of The Oklahoman signaled their approval of the decision to replace Mike Gundy as the school's football coach.
In a survey launched early on Tuesday, Sept. 23, and suspended in mid-afternoon when OSU called a news conference, 74% of the readers who voted said it was time for Gundy to go.
"I appreciate everything he has done for OSU, but I believe the game has passed him by. It is time to find a new coach," said Gary Brownlee, of Oklahoma City.
