Europe is building a new kind of wall — not of concrete or steel, but of drones and AI. After repeated Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace, the European Union has launched a “drone wall” project across its eastern border. Backed by nearly €100 billion in defence loans, the system unites Poland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Ukraine. At its heart is Eirshield, a low-cost anti-drone system developed in Estonia and Latvia, capable of detecting, jamming, or destroying drones flying over 200 km/h. Ukraine’s battlefield innovations — acoustic sensors, mobile interceptors, and cheap defences — are also being scaled up with €6 billion in EU funding. The message is clear: Russia’s swarms will face Europe’s united high-tech shield.
