Two libraries and two community centres have been saved thanks to a £500,000-plus annual intervention from Sutton Coldfield Town Council.

There was widespread anger when beleaguered Birmingham City Council shut down Sutton Coldfield 's town centre library and proposed to close two more at Boldmere and Walmley, as well as Mere Green and Walmley’s community centres.

But Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council is to keep Boldmere and Walmley libraries and the two community centres open with a £505,000 cash injection – the first formal service it will run since its inception in 2016.
