Campaigners have voiced disappointment after failing to prevent the sale of a Solihull community space.

Cash-strapped Solihull Council wanted to generate money through selling The Depot, off Clopton Crescent in Kingshurst.

But the sale of the site – which extends to 1.2 acres and includes a car park previously used by the Royal British Legion – was halted in the summer.

Campaigners submitted an application to register the site as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) which would have provided the community with the right to try to raise funds and bid for the site first.
