CLEVELAND (WJW) – Cleveland firefighters were called back to the scene of a dangerous industrial fire that originally broke out Monday afternoon on the city’s south side.
Flames at River Recycling Industries, a metal recycling facility on Bradley Road, rekindled around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Flames could be seen from inside the building. It took crews about 30 minutes to get the rekindled fire under control.
Investigators said the initial fire appeared to be sparked by a contractor who was grinding metal on a loading dock and accidentally ignited cardboard. The blaze quickly spread.
Fire officials said combustible items stored inside the recycling facility made the job of putting out the flames a dangerous assignment.
