WASHINGTON —
President Donald Trump canceled a meeting with Democratic leaders scheduled for tomorrow, increasing the risk of a government shutdown next week.
Trump announced on social media that no meeting with congressional leaders could be productive, accusing Democrats of threatening to shut down the government.
"I look forward to meeting with you when you become realistic about the things that our Country stands for. DO THE RIGHT THING," Trump posted on social media .
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer were set to meet with the president to discuss health care.
Democrats aim to include a proposal in the Republicans' short-term spending bill to extend enhanced health insurance subsidies, which are set to expire at the end of the year,
