DULUTH — As Bayfront Festival Park begins its transformation into Bentleyville, this week's events turn to cozy pleasures: live theater, good coffee and hard rock.

A hard rock band and genre-mashing violinist may not sound like a natural fit as tourmates, but both Halestorm and Lindsey Stirling are seasoned entertainers who can deliver arena-scale spectacle. On Saturday, Sept. 27, they will share a bill at Amsoil Arena.

There is no violinist quite like Stirling, who performs repertoire ranging from classical standards to pop covers and originals — often, while dancing. Even a skeptic like New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica praises Stirling for being able "to tap into an idea about joy that includes the dance floor, the place in pop that still most believes in collective ecstasy
