With AL East lead down to one game are Blue Jays headed towards epic collapse?

It all happened in less than a minute at two packed ballparks, a distance of some 800 kilometres from home plate to home plate.

At Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, the home team scored a dramatic, 3-2 walk off win against the truly awful Chicago White Sox, just a handful of deep breaths before the final verdict was rendered at the Rogers Centre.

The Blue Jays, once comfortably cruising to an American League East title – or so it seemed – went down meekly by a 4-1 count to the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday and a dramatic night of late September baseball yielded a wild and worrisome result for the long-time frontrunners.

Just like that, Toronto’s division lead was down to one with just five games remaining for both the Jays and Yankees.
