INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD on Wednesday, Sept. 24 announced the arrest of a suspect in the August fatal shooting of a UPS worker on Indianapolis' northwest side.

Parris Maul, 28, of Indianapolis, has been formally charged with one count of murder in the death of 22-year-old La'Renzo Shamar Murray, according to online court records.

The shooting was reported around 10 p.m. Aug. 19 in the 5400 block of West 81st Street , not far from Zionsville Road.

Responding officers located Murray with a gunshot wound. He was taken in critical condition to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

IMPD Capt. Rob Rider later said Murray was a worker at the UPS distribution center nearby and had just gotten off work. Rider said Murray was sitting on a bench when a person shot him.
