Renting a property is becoming even more expensive across Greater Manchester as prices are continuing to rise.
Average private rents in Manchester increased to £1,317 per month in the last 12 months, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.
The increase works out at an extra 5.1 per cent a year that renters are now having to find, as a housing charity warns that soaring rents could push people into homelessness.
This comes as separate figures from the ONS showed that annual growth in employees’ average earnings across the UK was 4.8 per cent, meaning wages are failing to keep up with rent rises.
