A Boston man and two dogs were rescued after a pickup truck went over a guardrail and landed in the Matfield River in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, early Wednesday morning.

East Bridgewater police and fire said they responded to Pleasant Street near North Centeral Street around 3:55 a.m. for a report of a crash.

Their preliminary investigation indicates that a Boston man driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck left the roadway and went over a guardrail while negotiating a curve. The truck came to rest on its side in the Matfield River.

Firefighters used a wire-basket stretcher to remove the man from the river. He was taken by ambulance to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth and is expected to survive. His name has not b
