Forty-six-year-old Nola Besplug, former manager of the SE Selects hockey team, is facing fraud and theft charges from an investigation that was initiated back in January.

Police allege the offences occurred between April 2024 and March 2025 when Besplug was the team’s manager and concerns were raised about funds for the hockey season collected from parents.

Police are not providing any further details, however a media release states, “Besplug’s activities negatively impacted the youth hockey community and involved multiple victims across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Montana.”

Besplug has been charged with fraud and theft over $5,000 as well as possession of proceeds of crime and is scheduled to appear before court Oct. 7.
