An Easton man was sentenced up to five years in prison for bringing a prohibited handgun near the Easton-Phillipsburg Free Bridge.

Lamarr Vega Duncan, 27, was sentenced Tuesday by Warren County Superior Court Judge H. Matthew Curry to serve five years in New Jersey State Prison with a five-year term of parole ineligibility. This means the five-year state prison sentence will be served prior to Duncan being eligible for parole.

Duncan in July pleaded guilty to second-degree persons prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Tuesday afternoon announced the sentencing. Bethlehem-based attorney, Paul Joseph Bender, who represented Duncan in separate Northampton County cases, couldn’t immediately be reached for comment Wednesday morning.
