COVINGTON, Ky. —

An update is expected to come later this week on the demolition of the Licking River Bridge that connects two of Northern Kentucky's biggest cities.

The bridge, which runs over 4th Street, connects Newport and Covington. It's being taken down to make way for an updated bridge that will allow for better flow of traffic for vehicles and pedestrians. Advertisement

Traffic over the bridge is set to close in January, but utility work will get started before then.
