INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (KCRG) - The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Walter Estate at Cedar Rock State Park will get a bit of a facelift thanks to a grant from the State Historical Society of Iowa’s Historical Resource Development Program (HRDP).
According to a press release from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Friends of Cedar Rock has been awarded $50,000 for masonry work and wall restoration at the historic home.
Friends of Cedar Rock’s project will focus on repairing and replacing the retaining wall that greets people visiting the property. The project will also focus on repairing the home’s masonry and concrete walkways and patios.
