One person was taken to a hospital following a three-car crash in South Windsor on Tuesday involving a wrong-way driver and a vehicle that rolled over.

The crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday shortly after a driver reportedly got onto Interstate 291 in Windsor, going east in the westbound lanes, and crossed over the Connecticut River into South Windsor, according to the South Windsor Fire Department .

Fire officials said they received an unconfirmed report that the wrong-way driver struck at least one car, causing it to roll over. A third vehicle was also involved.

According to fire officials, the wrong-way driver fled the scene on foot.

The driver of the car that rolled over was taken to an area hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, fire officials said.
