LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - OpenAI announced that Lordstown will be one of the sites of a new AI data center to expand Stargate, OpenAI's AI infrastructure platform.

OpenAI made the announcement in a release on Wednesday, announcing five total sites will open across the U.S.

In July, OpenAI and Oracle entered an agreement to develop up to 4.5 gigawatts of additional Stargate capacity. This represents a partnership that exceeds $300 billion between the two companies over the next five years, according to the release.

These sites will be developed through a partnership by SoftBank, which purchased the Lordstown facility from Foxconn earlier this year.
