Former Nazareth Area High School wrestling standout Sammy Sasso has the backing of the Northampton County district attorney to enter a first-time offender program and have gun charges wiped from his criminal record.

Sammy Sasso, 25, of Upper Nazareth Township, was pulled over for driving with an expired registration July 16 in Nazareth when police found four handguns and THC vape cartridges in the car, according to court records.

The two-time state high school champion and two-time NCAA runner up at Ohio State University did not have a license to carry concealed weapons in Pennsylvania, according to District Attorney Stephen Baratta.
