The County of Brant’s bylaw regulating firearms is under review, and residents are invited to provide feedback.
The change would involve adding new subdivisions, neighbourhoods, parks, trails and recreational spaces to a map of areas where using a firearm is prohibited, according to a news release from the county.

The map update is “not a new ban” and people will still be able to “hunt, shoot and enjoy rural life, safely and legally,” the release said.
Among the restrictions, the current bylaw prevents people from using a gun or crossbow:
on residential-zoned land;
on county-owned land or private property without permission;
on highways and recreational trails;
