A self-described homebody is now the winner of a record Powerball jackpot.
The Missouri player who won half of a $1.787 billion jackpot on Sept. 6 broke his silence this week and said he plans to take time off and "enjoy the experience," the state's lottery commission announced in a news release .
"I’m going to just do me for a year," the man, who traveled to Jefferson City to claim his prize at Missouri Lottery headquarters, said.
"It’s the best problem I’ve ever had," he continued, describing "sleepless nights between the time he realized his ticket was a winner and the day" he made the trip to the state capital.
Jackpot-winning tickets of the near-record Powerball jackpot were recently drawn in Missouri and Texas after months of no jackpot winner.
