A self-described homebody is now the winner of a record Powerball jackpot.

The Missouri player who won half of a $1.787 billion jackpot on Sept. 6 broke his silence this week and said he plans to take time off and "enjoy the experience," the state's lottery commission announced in a news release.

"I’m going to just do me for a year," said the man, who traveled to Jefferson City to claim his prize at Missouri Lottery headquarters.

"It’s the best problem I’ve ever had," he continued, describing "sleepless nights between the time he realized his ticket was a winner and the day" he made the trip to the state capital.

Jackpot-winning tickets of the near-record Powerball jackpot were recently drawn in Missouri and Texas after months of no jackpot winner.

The Missouri winner, who has not been publicly identified, chose the one-time payment of $410.3 million, lottery officials announced.

The winning ticket was purchased at the QuikTrip on Lusher Road in St. Louis County.

The prize marked the largest ever won by a Missouri Lottery player.

'The perfect day'

The winner said he was looking forward to spending time with his wife, according to a news release from lottery officials, and added that she plans to reduce her workload following the win.

"I’m like a homebody. The perfect day is sitting at home doing what I do – relaxing," the winner said, describing "the perfect day" as sitting at home. He said his wife is "going to drag me out of town now."

The Quick Pick ticket was one of two tickets nationwide to match all six numbers drawn Sept. 6. Each ticketholder won nearly $893.5 million pretax, with the option to claim the full prize over 30 payments or to receive one lump payment of about half the jackpot, the release reads.

QuikTrip received a $50,000 bonus for selling the jackpot-winning ticket, according to officials.
