Taiwan: Patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) face a significantly higher risk of developing peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD), according to a 15-year follow-up cohort review published in Clinical and Experimental Dermatology. The analysis, led by Dr. Shiu-Jau Chen from the Department of Neurosurgery, Mackay Memorial Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan, found that HS patients had a 23% higher crude risk of PAOD compared with matched controls, which increased to 48% after adjusting for confounding factors. The risk was particularly pronounced among men and adults aged 65 years or older, highlighting the need for careful cardiovascular evaluation in this patient population. The review utilized data from the TriNetX research network, matching patients with HS 1:1 to non-HS control
