The Legault government has rejected the arbitration requested by the Federation of General Practitioners (FMOQ).
Health Minister Christian Dubé argues that it could cost up to an additional $1.8 billion in compensation.
The FMOQ filed a motion in court on Friday to request independent arbitration in the ongoing dispute with the government.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Dubé said that Quebec’s situation cannot be compared to that of the rest of the country, where arbitration with doctors has led to a 17 per cent to 20 per cent increase in compensation.
