NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - While Hurricane Gabrielle continues to travel westward, there's two spots behind it that could soon see tropical development.
Hurricane Gabrielle is about 1285-miles west of the Azores with maximum sustained winds of 115-mph.
Its hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 45-miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140-miles.
The National Hurricane Center expects Gabrielle to see some acceleration over the next few days while traveling east-northeastward as its center approaches the Azores during the day on Thursday then moving inland Thursday night into Friday.
Even though Gabrielle is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, the NHC forecasts weakening during the next couple of days.
