Secretary of State Marco Rubio jumped on the defense after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan threw shade at President Donald Trump .

During a sit-down interview with Fox News, Erdoğan was asked by host Bret Baier about how the war in Gaza, which has stretched for just under two years, could ultimately come to an end.

“I could only say this — Mr. Trump, you might remember, he used a term, when he said I will finish the Russia-Ukraine war. Did it end? It still goes on. Similarly, he said I will finish the war in Gaza. Did it end? No," Erdoğan said on “Special Report” on Monday.

“That means, once we start analyzing the issue, there are prices to pay, and when we look at the hostage exchange, that was done. It goes on,” he added.
