STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa says that, if elected, he would prioritize improved express bus service for Staten Island.

On Sunday, Sliwa posted a video on social media denouncing long wait times and other commuter complaints on express bus lines operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

In the video, the mayoral candidate said he’s riding a SIM4C bus on the way to meet with borough elected officials at the Staten Island Greek Festival .

He described the weekend trip as characterized by delays before he even boarded a bus.

“Today, the SIM4C, and it’s called the Huguenot to Manhattan Express. Well guess what? I was waiting 40 to 45 minutes; there’s no express in that,” Sliwa said.
