SEISTA KEY, Fla. ( WWSB ) – The swimmer who drowned off Siesta Key on September 21 has been identified, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim has been identified as John A. Miller, 46, of Sarasota, the sheriff said.

Just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to Siesta Key Beach after reports of an unresponsive man being pulled from the Gulf of Mexico by beachgoers.

Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.
