VENICE, Fla. ( WWSB ) – A North Port woman has been charged with felony fentanyl possession after a multiagency investigation and traffic stop on Sept. 23.
The Venice Police Department said detectives from its Special Investigations Unit, along with K9 Palmer and Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Air1, stopped a vehicle on southbound Interstate 75 near Exit 195 in Venice.
Police said Stacy Jill Garrett, 44, of North Port, was found with 217.8 grams, about one-quarter kilogram, of fentanyl.

Garrett’s arrest resulted in a “significant setback for the local drug trade and highlighted our commitment to fighting the opioid crisis,” the department said in a release.
Garrett faces multiple felony charges and is being held at the Sarasota County
