A person was shot and killed in Compton early Wednesday morning, authorities say.
The shooting was reported to police around 3:30 a.m. in the 700 block of West Cherry Street, according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies were dispatched on an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.
By the time the deputies and first responders from the Compton Fire Department got to the scene, the victim had succumbed to their wounds and died.
They were not identified by name.
No suspect information has been released, and no further details were available.
