Nearly 1,000 students from Dorchester and Roxbury have found a new school home as Roxbury Prep 7-12 last month opened its doors on Proctor Street across from Clifford Park, bringing three school campuses under one new roof. The ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday morning, Sept. 12, was the official opening, though classes got underway two weeks earlier, on Aug. 25.

Above all, the opening that Friday was a celebration of possibilities for the charter school that established operations in 1999 on the top floor of the Benjamin Nursing Home in Mission Hill.

Things that are for real now include high quality science labs, home games for the basketball
