ASHEVILLE, N.C. —
A man who fell off a retaining wall in Asheville Tuesday night fired a shot at a passerby who tried to help him, according to police.
Police said they got a call about a shot fired in downtown Asheville.
They said they arrived on Broadway Street about 10:30 p.m. to investigate.
There they found a Glock 44 handgun in the middle of the alley and a man lying nearby.
Officers said they later learned the man, later identified as William Blake Keffer, fell off a retaining wall and when a passerby tried to check on him he fired several rounds into the air and then in the direction of the victim.
