BLUFFTON, S.C. —

The owner of a wedding and event venue in South Carolina has been arrested for operating without a retail license, according to the South Carolina Department of Revenue.

Bethany Boles Hewitt, 49, of Bluffton, operated Hewitt Oaks, an event and wedding venue in Bluffton.

On Feb. 12, 2025, the SCDOR said it revoked the retail license for Hewitt Oaks because of unpaid business taxes.

According to an arrest warrant, Hewitt continued to conduct events and weddings without a retail license.
