Troopers: Man was drunk when he drove the wrong way on I

NORWICH, CT (WFSB) - A man was charged with drunk driving and driving the wrong way in Norwich, according to state police.

Troopers said Anthony David Tarantino, 22, of Meriden, was spotted on Tuesday driving north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 395.

Tarantino was pulled over around 2:50 a.m. near exit 11.

State police said he had a passenger in the vehicle with him.

“Tarantino explained to troopers on scene that he had a verbal argument with his passenger, and during such had realized he got onto the highway the wrong way,” state police said in their report. “Tarantino explained that he was attempting to get to the next exit to correct his direction.”

However, Troopers said they noticed signs of impairment, so they issued a standardized field sobriety tests.
