Ford Motor Company is recalling an estimated 115,539 F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty pickups over a steering column issue. Documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say the recall impacts certain trucks from the 2020 and 2021 model years.
The NHTSA says the issue stems from the upper shaft of the steering column which can separate. If that happens, it can cause a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall documents say there are no warning systems in place that will alert drivers of impacted vehicles of the issue ahead of time.
Ford reports it has received seven warranty claims related to the issue, and says it is unaware of any injuries or crashes reported in connection with the problem.
Owners of the recalled vehicles will be contacted
