A Wetaskiwin woman has been charged with drug trafficking following a months-long targeted investigation.

The Wetaskiwin RCMP started an investigation aimed at drug traffickers in the city back in May, and identified a suspect they believed to be an active drug trafficker, selling both fentanyl and methamphetamine.

On Sept. 19, officers with the Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) arrested the suspect as she exited her vehicle at a Wetaskiwin residence.

According to RCMP a search, incidental to the arrest, located 33 grams of suspected fentanyl, 7.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and a replica handgun.
