CAMDEN, Ark. – A teenager was arrested Monday after police in Camden said they found a gun on the Camden Fairview Middle School campus.
According to the Camden Police Department, officers responded to the middle school after a report of a student with a weapon. The student was detained by the school officer after staff were notified.
Camden police said a 14-year-old student was taken into custody after a gun was found in his backpack. Officers said the gun had not been shown in the school and no threats were made.
Police said they searched the student’s home and found no evidence of plans or threats of acts of violence.
The student is being held at the Jack Jones Juvenile Detention Center in Pine Bluff. He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
