GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - The George County School District (GCSD) has increased law enforcement presence after determining that a potential threat of violence was not credible.
School district officials said they were alerted about the threat on Monday, September 22.
Authorites described it as a general threat and said it was not directed toward a specific school or person.
The GCSD Police, local law enforcement agencies, and Homeland Security investigated and found the threat not credible.
“We appreciate the support and quick response of our local agencies, who worked collectively to ensure the safety of our students,” the George County School District said in a statement.
Education officials said disruptions to classes were minimized during the investigation.
