Two middle school students are recovering after they were reportedly struck by a truck Wednesday morning at the intersection of Old Highway 11 and Old Highway 24 in Oak Grove, according to WDAM.

Superintendent Wesley Quick said emergency medical services, school resource officers, and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department responded immediately.

WDAM reported that the students were alert and responsive after the incident and were taken by ambulance to Forrest General Hospital as a precaution for full evaluations.

Quick added that the district is in contact with the students’ families and with other students who witnessed the incident.

He thanked the community for its support and emphasized that student well-being remains the district’s top priority.
