A husband and wife visiting the Big Apple from Germany are clinging to life after a hit-and-run driver in a green minivan rammed into them in Midtown Wednesday afternoon, police sources said.

The 50-year-old woman and 55-year-old man from Hamburg were struck around 2:40 p.m. at the corner of Fifth Avenue and East 40th Street, according to the sources.

Both were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where they were listed in critical condition, the sources said.

A green minivan fled the scene, and members of the NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad are investigating, the sources said.
