(WJET/WFXP)-- A Michigan man accused of homicide in the state of Vermont was arrested overnight Tuesday during what police said was a routine traffic stop.

According to New York State Police, troopers saw 25-year-old Terrene Biggs of Warren, Michigan, speeding along Interstate 90 near the Town of Portland when they made the stop.

Police said after investigating, they learned Biggs had a warrant for second-degree murder out of the City of Rutland, Vermont, and another for assault out of Florida for assault.

After being taken into custody, police said Biggs was also in possession of suboxone and was charged with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, along with fugitive from justice.

He's being held in the Chautauqua County Jail pending extradition to Vermont.
