Portland, N.Y. — A man wanted for murder in Vermont was arrested early Wednesday morning after New York State Police stopped him for speeding on the Thruway in Chautauqua County, police said.
Around 2:35 a.m., troopers pulled over a Nissan Versa traveling west on I-90 in the town of Portland, according to Trooper James O’Callaghan, a spokesperson for State Police.
The driver, Terrene L. Biggs, 25, of Warren, Michigan, had active arrest warrants, troopers said. One was issued by the Rutland City Police Department in Vermont for second-degree murder, and another was out of Florida for assault, troopers said.
The Rutland Herald reported that on the morning of Jan. 7, Austin Rodrigues, 26, was fatally shot on Summer Street and pronounced dead at the scene. Police had a warrant out for Big
