SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A lightning strike during a severe rainstorm on Wednesday left a home in South Shreveport burned and damaged.
Just before 1:30 p.m., a fire was reported on Longfellow Trace in the Southern Trace Community. Residents said they "saw the sky light up and then heard and felt a loud bang."
The lightning strike's power sent the home's wood panels flying off the house. The Shreveport Fire Department had as many as 22 units on the scene to get the fire under control. The homeowners were not there at the time, and there were no reported injuries.
