A mistake by Cambridge city staff has pushed a controversial 28-storey tower proposal on Grand Avenue South out of council’s hands and into an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT).
Hardy Bromberg, the city’s general manager of planning and growth, told council Tuesday evening that staff entered the wrong start date for the file, which allowed the developer to appeal on the grounds of a “non-decision.”
Bromberg admitted it was “a staff error,” but said the city will still fight the project at the tribunal, using its staff report as evidence.
