The Bowdon Community Grocery Co-op and Wimbledon Community Grocery are two of 11 rural communities in North Dakota that were awarded funds through the Rural Grocery Store Sustainability Grant program to support local food access and economic development, the North Dakota Department of Commerce's Community Services announced Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Bowdon Community Grocery Co-op in Bowdon was awarded more than $75,700 and Wimbledon Community Grocery in Wimbledon was awarded about $120,000.

The grants will help sustain and strengthen grocery services in small towns, ensuring residents have access to fresh, affordable food close to home.
